Donning procedure

1. Clean and disinfect your hands. Open the package in an area without risk of contamination. 2. Put both hands into armholes. Hold the gown away from the body, and allow it to unfold completely. 3. Inspect the gown for any rips, tears, holes or other damage. If it is damaged; discard the gown and restart the donning process. 4. Slip both arms into armholes and sleeves; keep hands at shoulder level and away from the body. 5. Pull the cuff to thumb level for open glove donning, and push the hands to the edge of the cuff for closed glove donning. 6. Assisting nurse pulls the gown over the shoulders, touching only the inside of the gown. 7. Assisting nurse secures the velcro strip in the neck and ties the inner waist belt of the gown. 8. The user put on medical gloves according to user instructions. 9. Hold the belt card with both hands, separate the left outer belt from the belt card and keep the belt in the left hand. Hand the belt card to the assisting nurse. 10. Rotate to the left while the assisting nurse extends the outer belt to its full length. 11. Retrieve the outer belt by pulling it out of the belt card and tie it together with the outer belt on the left-hand side.

Doffing procedure

12. Keep medical gloves on. Cross your arms and grasp the shoulders. 13. Pull the gown away from the body to break the neck closure. 14. Grasp the waist and pull away from the body to break waist closure. 15. Roll the gown down into a ball - inside out - to ensure fluids and contaminants are contained. 16. Discard the gown and your gloves according to medical waste regulations. 17. Clean and disinfect hands after use.
